About the Pre-Degree Programme
The Pre-Degree Programme is designed not merely to help students pass examinations and gain admission into 100 Level, but to build their confidence, strengthen their academic foundation, and cultivate the culture of independent learning that is essential for long-term success in higher education and beyond.
The programme provides a comprehensive review of the curriculum from JS1 to SS3, ensuring that students identify and overcome learning gaps while developing the discipline and study habits required for university education.
This programme is hosted by Babanawa Polytechnic, the parent body of Babanawa University.
Who is the programme meant for?
Students with low JAMB scores who need stronger preparation before university admission.
Students with low JAMB scores
Designed for students who need additional preparation before meeting normal university admission requirements.
Missed Admissions
Applicants who were not offered admission during the regular UTME/DE cycle due to high competition or quota limits.
Incomplete O'Level Requirements
Students with deficiencies in one or two O'Level subjects.

Unique Institutional Support
Babanawa University facilitates the registration of students for JAMB, WAEC, NECO and GCE examinations. All students who do Remedials/Pre-degree are eligible for the Chancellor's scholarship. We remove financial barriers and provide structured support throughout the admission process.

First 2 Months
Foundational / Probational Phase
The first two months constitute the foundational or probational phase. During this period, students undergo an intensive review of the JSS1 to JSS3 curriculum to strengthen basic concepts and address deficiencies in core subjects.
4-Month Core Programme
Intensive Academic Phase
Students who successfully complete the probational phase shall proceed to the intensive academic phase, which typically lasts for four months. This stage focuses on the SS1 to SS3 curriculum and includes extensive preparation for JAMB, WAEC, and/or NECO examinations where applicable.
The intensive phase is rigorous and result-oriented, combining structured teaching, continuous assessment, guided study, tutorials, and examination drills to ensure academic mastery and examination readiness. During the final stage of this phase, students shall undertake the Final Examinations designed to evaluate their readiness for external examinations and university-level studies.
Final 4–6 Weeks
Transition Phase
During the final stage of the programme, which spans 4 to 6 weeks, students who fail the final examination shall undertake a re-sit examination. Given the robustness of the teaching methodology and assessment process, students who successfully pass the Final Examination are expected to perform excellently in their qualifying examinations and other examinations relevant to their academic progression.
Those who have passed the final examination will use this time, in collaboration with the SGRS coordinator, to prepare for JAMB, NECO, or WAEC and for onward preparation into degree studies.
